Hewden’s latest investment involved the hire giants snapping up 30 new Genie GTH-2506 compact telehandlers.
Each machine is equipped with the latest Trackunit Track & Trace device, which is described by Hewden as a fleet management system that offers advanced telemetry. This includes hour-meter reporting, location tracking and machine utilisation rates. It also offers security benefits including geo-fencing, motion alarms and remote machine disabling.
Danny Williams, product manager at Hewden, explained, “We chose the GTH-2506 telehandler for its simplicity of operation and robust, compact design which is ideal for work on sites where space is tight.
“Another important factor was the advanced telematics that come with the machines. Plant and attachment theft remains a major issue in the industry, so with these new telehandlers fitted with the latest telematics and tracking devices, we’re tackling the issue and reducing the risk of downtime for our customers.”
The telehandler has a lifting height of up to 5.79m (19ft), a lifting capacity of 2.500kg and 2.000kg at maximum height.
