Tributes for worker who died ‘doing the job he loved’

SCG Supplies has paid tribute to 47-year-old employee Andrew Darling, who reportedly suffered fatal injuries in an accident during a machine demonstration at a NWH site in Dalkeith on June 20.

A statement on the firm’s website read, “Early in the afternoon of Wednesday 20th June we lost our dear friend and colleague Andrew Darling, Andrew sustained fatal injuries whilst doing the job that he loved on a site in Dalkeith, Midlothian.

“Everyone at SCG Supplies Ltd would like to take this opportunity to express their profound sorrow at Andrew’s passing. We would like to thank those members of the emergency services, health and safety executive and all the people on the site who cared for and tended to Andrew on Wednesday.

“We would ask that the family are given the opportunity to grieve their loss in privacy. All our thoughts are with Andrew’s family at this time.”

A spokesperson for Health and Safety Executive said, “HSE is aware of the incident and inspectors have attended the site. Police Scotland currently have the lead on this joint investigation with HSE.”
