FORSYTH of Denny has purchased Scotland’s first Liebherr LTM 1300-6.4 six-axle all-terrain crane.
The delivery follows the arrival of the firm’s first LTM 1300-6.3 in 2024. With this latest addition, the company now operates two 300-tonne Liebherr cranes equipped with 90-metre main booms, providing flexibility for a range of applications, including renewable energy and infrastructure projects.
The LTM 1300-6.4 features an eight-section 90-metre telescopic boom that can be carried complete on public roads while maintaining a 12-tonne axle load. A range of jib and boom configurations enables a maximum hook height of 120 metres and a radius of up to 90 metres, making the crane suited to tasks such as tower crane erection and wind turbine maintenance.
The crane is equipped with the new LICCON3 control system, which Liebherr explained offers enhanced computing power, increased storage capacity and faster data processing, while also providing future-ready telemetry and fleet management capabilities. Advanced driver assistance systems, together with VarioBase and VarioBallast, are designed to further contribute to safety, efficiency and flexibility.
Mark Syme, director at Forsyth of Denny, said, “We are extremely delighted to take delivery of our new LTM 1300-6.4, which has already become a top performer in the fleet. Our LTM 1300-6.3, which was delivered in 2024, has been an incredible crane, so adding a second 90-metre main boom crane to the fleet made a lot of sense, especially with the drive for renewable projects which we are currently working on.”
The LTM 1300-6.4 is one of four Liebherr cranes ordered by Forsyth of Denny as part of its fleet investment programme. The company has already taken delivery of an LTM 1060-3.1 and is expecting the arrival of a second unit later this year, alongside an LTM 1110-5.2.
