Stevens Equipment Rental reports ‘high footfall and contractor interest’ on ScotPlant debut

STEVENS Equipment Rental (SER) has reported a successful first appearance at ScotPlant, with many visitors to the stand and conversations with both existing and prospective customers throughout the event.

According to Mark Need, SER’s sales manager for Scotland and the north of England, the level of activity reflected the current strength of the Scottish construction market.

“The SER stand was busy from start to finish, and we met many customers and new contacts who took the time to speak with us,” he said. “Scotland is a very dynamic market at the moment, and that really came through at the show.”

A Cat D6 dozer on display proved to be one of the key focal points, with contractors showing interest in equipment suited to large-scale earthworks linked to renewable energy developments, road infrastructure, and housing projects.

SER also partnered with Ultimate Cell at ScotPlant to showcase hydrogen-on-demand solutions, which attracted significant attention from contractors exploring practical approaches to reducing fuel consumption and meeting evolving sustainability requirements.

“There was clear interest in technologies that can act as a bridge – solutions that help reduce fuel use without compromising productivity,” Mark said. “That was a recurring theme in conversations across the SER stand.”

Contractors were also keen to discuss wear parts and machine durability, focusing on how to maximise uptime in demanding operating environments.

SER said the level of engagement reinforces its ongoing investment strategy in Scotland, where it continues to expand its fleet, technical support, and regional presence in response to growing demand.

“Overall, it was a fantastic show for us,” Mark concluded. “It was busy, the weather helped, and most importantly we had some valuable conversations about where the market is going. We’re continuing to invest in Scotland because the level of activity and opportunity here is only increasing.”

Meanwhile, SER has announced a significant investment in its Scottish service capabilities to support its increasing number of machines operating on energy and infrastructure projects in Scotland.

Three engineers dedicated to the Scottish market have already been appointed, with more in the pipeline. Strategically positioned to provide nationwide coverage, the engineers operate from Glasgow for the central belt; Dundee for the northern, western, and Highland regions; and from SER’s Carlisle HQ for the Scottish Borders.

“As our fleet in Scotland grows, it’s vital that our service capability grows with it,” said David Grace, plant manager at SER. “By investing in locally-based engineers, satellite depots, and the latest technology, we can respond even faster, achieve more first-time fixes, and help protect customers’ schedules and profitability. It’s all part of our ongoing commitment to the premium service SER is known for, as we enter a new chapter in our 50-year heritage.”

The new service team members bring a wealth of experience from OEM dealerships, quarrying operations, and other plant hire businesses. Each is equipped with a new service van, featuring the latest OEM-level diagnostic and tooling equipment, as well as commonly used replacement parts.

SER has also established satellite depots in Glasgow and Dundee, which allow for overnight parts deliveries, ensuring engineers have the components they need, when they need them.

Alongside the expansion of its physical service presence in Scotland, SER has rolled out a unified fleet management platform with 24/7 telematics monitoring, compatible with all brands of equipment. The system automatically alerts the service team to machine fault codes and performance issues as they arise, often before an operator is even aware of a developing problem.
