MKM Hire has marked a milestone after completing the purchase of its 350th JCB machine.

MKM, the independent builders’ merchant, entered the rental sector in 2022 with the formation of its dedicated tool & plant division – MKM Hire.

Since then, the company has invested in a fleet of 350 JCB machines – all supplied by TC Harrison JCB – including 100 1.5-tonne conventional tailswing 16C-1 mini-excavators.

Lee Armsby, MKM’s head of tool hire, said, “Since our launch, MKM Hire has thrived and invested heavily in an outstanding range of equipment. The breadth and quality of JCB’s compact range helps MKM Hire to meet the needs of both construction professionals and DIY enthusiasts.

“We will continue with expansion plans and open another ten hire branches across the UK over the next 12 months, each prioritising local expertise and outstanding customer service.”

Mark Hobbs, JCB compact sales manager, added, “It is fantastic to see the success that MKM Hire has achieved in such a short period of time. Operated locally under independent branch directors, each depot has the full autonomy to select the products that are right for their local market.

“We are delighted that they consistently buy JCB – a testament to the strength of the product. We look forward to continuing to support MKM Hire with its bold expansion plans over the coming years as it continues to expand its JCB offering.”

MKM has opened 18 tool hire depots nationwide and offers JCB machines including micro and mini-excavators, site dumpers, compaction rollers, access platforms, and tracked dumpsters.
