KUBOTA has confirmed plans to unveil two new electric articulated wheel loaders at bauma 2022.
The manufacturer will showcase to the public for the first time the new RT210-2e and RT220-2e. The move follows Kubota’s recent introduction of an LPG-powered mini-excavator and a fully electric track dumper.
The RT210-2e boasts a long loader arm as standard for maximum reach (a lifting height of 2.82m) and a lifting capacity of 1,450kg. The RT220-2e has a shorter arm (a lifting height of 2.45m) with a lifting capacity of 2,054kg, described as ‘perfect’ for heavy-duty loading applications.
With an overall width of only 1.08m and a machine height of 2.30m, the new wheel loaders can be utilised on narrow and compact sites.
There are three lithium-ion battery options: 260Ah, 390Ah, and 520Ah with a built-in charger of 40 Amp or 60 Amps. There are also two standalone 415V three phase supercharger options of 150 Amp or 300 Amp. Kuibota said the super chargers will charge a battery within 1-4 hours, whereas the onboard chargers will charge a battery within 4-12 hours depending on battery size. The batteries supply power to two electric motors, one 6.5kW for the drive motor and 12kW for the hydraulic motor.
Additional features on the all-wheel drive machines include a differential lock in the front and rear axles, as well as three driving speed levels (0-5 km/h / 0-12 km/h / 0-18 km/h).
Mark O’Brien, product manager for Kubota (UK), said, “The topic of sustainability has never been more prevalent in the construction industry and it’s vitally important that we not only provide operators with machinery that is robust and reliable, but also helps reduce our environmental impact on our working environment. We take our company motto For Earth, For Life very seriously and the introduction of two new electric wheel loaders is another example of how we can offer our customers more sustainable solutions as we work towards a greener construction industry.”
