FINNING has started its UK and Ireland search for the top operators to compete in the Caterpillar Global Operator Challenge 2022/23.
Participants will need to demonstrate agility, speed, and precision to be in with the chance to take the UK and Ireland titles. The top operators will progress to the European finals in Malaga and then – potentially – onto the grand finale in Las Vegas.
In March 2020 Finning customer Tommy Murphy narrowly missed out on becoming world champion after finishing a close second in Las Vegas.
Contenders must first compete in the UK and Ireland part of the competition, with events running on July 27th and 28th at Caterpillar’s visitor centre in Desford, Leicester. Operators will compete in three challenges using different machines and illustrating different skills and capabilities.
The European championships take place in Malaga in October where operators will vie for a place at the final, where they’ll do battle with the best machine operators in the world.
Tracey Earp, marketing manager at Finning, said, “After Tommy’s amazing success in 2020 we’re excited to see who will step forward this year to represent the UK & Ireland and earn their place on the podium. For those ready to step up don’t expect a comfortable ride, as this event really does attract the absolute best of the best and you will have to put your heart and soul into every challenge.
“It’s a fantastic way to demonstrate the skill and precision work operators bring to their job every day, and the Cat Global Operator finals always make me immensely proud of the people we have in our industry.”
In 2020 more than 10,000 machine operators from across 30 countries took part in the event, which forms part of CONEXPO-CON/AGG, North America’s largest construction trade show.
