Final preparations underway for ScotPlant 2022

FINAL preparations are taking place for ScotPlant 2022, the biggest and most spectacular event of the year for the Scottish construction equipment sector.

The latest products, solutions and innovations from many of the world’s leading manufacturers will be on display at the Royal Highland Centre, near Edinburgh Airport, on Friday April 22 and Saturday April 23.

Due to the pandemic-related disruption to the events industry over the past two years, many of the machines will be displayed in this type of exhibition setting for the very first time in Scotland.

As well as providing the opportunity to network, do business, and see the latest construction products, ScotPlant 2022 is also set to represent a long-awaited – and very welcome – return of in-person exhibitions.

As ever, the show will feature a range of debuts and highlights, including:

  • The UK exhibition debut of Liebherr’s award-winning TA230 articulated dump truck, developed primarily for transporting excavated materials in the mining industry and for use in major infrastructure projects and special applications, such as tunnel construction.

  • The launch of two brand new SANY excavators – the 40-tonne SY390 tracked digger and the 7.5-tonne SY75 midi-excavator. SANY’s newly appointed senior sales manager for Scotland Brian McGrane revealed the show will be a ‘springboard’ to introduce the brand to potential new customers for the first time.

  • Takeuchi’s seven-tonne TB370 mini-excavator will be making its ScotPlant debut. The machine is the first in the manufacturer’s new 3-Series with added features for ‘power, performance, operating comfort, durability, and servicing’.

  • Molson Young Plant Sales will be unveiling the Kobelco Generation 11 Series of excavators for the first time in Scotland in this type of setting. This will include a Kobelco SK210-11, with the models following the manufacturer’s Performance X design concept and boasting a Stage V Hino engine.

  • Marubeni-Komatsu will be showing off the new HB365LC-3 hybrid hydraulic excavator. In the hybrid system, the electric swing motor-generator captures and regenerates energy as the upper structure slows down and converts it to electric energy.

  • Scot JCB will be bringing an electric mini-excavator from JCB’s E-Tech range, which will be available in the operator challenge area. The firm will also be exhibiting the 26-metre 555-260R rotating telehandler in Scotland for the first time.

  • Hodge Plant will be showcasing the SBM Jawmax 400 track-mounted mobile jaw crusher, described as the ‘biggest breakthrough in mobile crushing’. The Hodge stand is also the place to see the CX250E from CASE’s brand-new E-Series crawler excavator range.

  • HRN’s line-up will include Kubota’s new KX060-5, which offers a conventional tail swing and is most suitable to heavier attachments, while sister company Agritrac will be debuting the Hyundai HX145AL High-Walker and showcasing the 14-tonne Hyundai HX140AL, which boasts a 3% increase in power and 12% more torque compared to its predecessor model.

  • Merlo is bringing its new, fully electric eWorker telehandler, boasting zero emissions, zero noise, and zero fuel consumption.

  • Hitachi returns to ScotPlant for the first time since 2004, showcasing the latest Zaxis-7 excavators and innovations from the Hitachi Connected Technology department.

  • Engcon, in a UK-first, will be exhibiting its EC206B tiltrotator with EC-Oil underneath. The product allows operators to attach and detach hydraulic attachments with EC-Oil, without leaving the cab.

  • McCloskey’s J50 jaw crusher, described as featuring the widest jaw in its class, will be at ScotPlant, displayed on one of two separate stands occupied by McCloskey Equipment.

  • The Doosan DX100W-7 wheeled excavator is making its debut at the show. The machine offers a solution for customers looking for a wheeled digger designed primarily for urban and road maintenance tasks.

  • Blue Machinery Scotland will be promoting a new brand – MDS, a Terex brand. Visitors to the Blue Scotland stand will find a Powerscreen Maxtrak 1300 cone crusher, Powerscreen CT65 conveyor, Doppstadt AK565 high-speed shredder, a Fuchs material handler, and an MDS M413 trommel.
