WORSLEY Plant has appointed Joe Brand as the company’s new hire and transport manager.
Having started his career as an apprentice scaffolder, Joe progressed to the role of operations manager at a civils and groundworks company. Spotting a gap in the market in his home territory of Cornwall, Joe and a friend formed a plant hire firm offering equipment including excavators, dumpers and rollers. The business grew and enjoyed success in plant hire and haulage throughout Cornwall and into Devon.
However, Joe and his family wanted to relocate. He explained, “Unfortunately, I couldn’t take the company with me. I was looking for a new challenge and an adventure with my family relocating to the north of England. The role at Worsley Plant was particularly appealing, as I could bring my transport and operations experience to it and help the company at this important stage in its growth. I’m looking forward to the challenge.”
In his new role, Joe will be responsible for all the transport and delivery requirements for attachments leaving and arriving at head office. He’ll also be keeping the stock database up to date, producing hire and sales quotes. Additionally, he will be responsible for the management, maintenance, and compliance of the company’s heavy goods vehicles.
Sean Heron, Worsley Plant’s MD, said, “As the company grows, it is becoming increasingly important to have someone managing the stock leaving and coming into the yard. Making sure a customer’s attachment is delivered on time is key.
“It’s also important that items coming in for service and repair are turned around quickly to reduce customer downtime. With the increase in hire stock and our growing vehicle fleet, we wanted an expert in the driving seat. Joe definitely fits the bill.”
