SPEEDY has announced an initial £1.5 million investment to launch a new specialist hoisting division.
The firm’s first dedicated hoisting depot is based in Birmingham and will provide customers with access to a range of GEDA hoisting equipment to hire on a nationwide basis, offering working load ranges from 200kg to two tonnes.
Speedy said the business currently has more than 25 trained hoist engineers across its network and will look to grow the team over the coming months. The launch in Birmingham will be followed by eight additional specialist hoist centres, set to open this year.
Speedy is also rolling out 18 specialist heavy lifting locations, which include those already operating in Rosyth and Ellesmere Port.
Adrian Bolland, head of category at Speedy, will lead the new hoist division.
Lisa Blake, category director at Speedy Services, said, “We’re always looking for new opportunities to improve our product and service offering. This significant investment simplifies and improves the age profile our fleet, enabling us to offer a consistent service nationwide. The investment also marks a significant step forward in ensuring we are the first choice for businesses that need hoisting and lifting equipment to deliver safe and successful projects.
“Our new hoist division will meet a sharp growth in demand across the UK and offers the largest and most comprehensive product range available for nationwide delivery and installation. Coupled with the unrivalled expertise and experience of Adrian and his team, this is a compelling offering that demonstrates our commitment to provide the industry’s best hire services to customers of all sizes.”
