ASTRAK is forging ahead with its programme for future growth this year with the appointment of a new group sales director.
Martyn Pointer joins the Europe-wide undercarriage parts supplier from Michelin Group where he spent over eight years. Martyn was the B2B sales director for the company’s Euromaster division for four years and most recently was commercial director for the agricultural construction division for the UK and Nordics.
“The biggest appeal about Astrak is the entrepreneurial spirit that is within the family business,” Martyn told Project Plant. “They have a hunger and desire to want to continue what has been quite rapid growth but now, to take them to the next level, they’ve started to diversify across the business and bring in people who have got the experience from other sectors.”
Richard Paterson, Astrak managing director added that the company had a programme for substantial growth over the next two to three years. “Growing our expertise in each department of the business is very much part of our strategy and with Martyn coming on board, that certainly helps us on that front.”
Martyn’s appointment comes shortly after Astrak’s acquisition of York-based supplier Southern Plant Spares’ (SPS) undercarriage division and company name, which Richard said had opened them up to a number of new customers.
SPS is a supplier of rubber tracks, undercarriage parts and other associated spare parts for earthmoving machinery and has been servicing the construction industry for over two decades.
