Glasgow-based civil engineering contractor, R J McLeod, has expanded its range of Volvo excavators.
The firm recently took delivery of two new 38-tonne Volvo EC380Es, and, for the first time, adds 14-tonne Volvo EC140 and 22-tonne EC220 models to its fleet, with two EC140Es and five EC220Es.
RJ McLeod’s plant manager, Bill Paterson, commented, “We’ve been running the Volvo 36-tonne + sized excavators since 2010.
“On the whole, we’ve been very pleased with them and the after-market support we receive from Volvo’s support centre in Stirling has been equally acceptable, so as we were in the market to replace some of the older EC360’s and needed to replace some smaller competitive makes in the fleet, we decided to opt for their EC140E and EC20E models, as well.”
All of the excavators feature Tier IV engines and an automatic idling system that reduces engine speed when the levers and pedals are not activated.
The machines also feature the Volvo Care Cab, which is standard across the excavator range, that offers a “large roomy interior with plenty of leg room and foot space” according to Volvo. The cab features a 14 vent climate control system and an adjustable LCD colour monitor, which doubles as a monitor for the machine’s rear view camera.
