A-Plant has expanded its operations throughout Scotland to “meet market demand and increase national coverage”.
Two of the company’s businesses, PSS Hire and FLG Services, have opened a number of premises in Scotland and are now in the process of opening another shared location in Inverness, (which will also incorporate A-Plant Lux traffic control and management.
A-Plant say the size and scale of this location will allow it to become a one stop shop to its expanding customer base north of the border.
PSS Hire, a utilities and pipeline equipment provider, has expanded in Scotland through acquisition and organic growth. In 2014, PSS Hire acquired two businesses in Scotland – East Coast Construction Services Ltd (ECCS) and Hy-Ram Engineering (Scotland). Both businesses have been integrated into the PSS Hire network and a new 10,000ft2 Service Centre has been opened in Bathgate on a one acre site.
Mark Hamilton, director of PSS Hire said, “Scotland was identified as a key area for expansion, as we have secured a number of contracts and our increased network coverage allows us to service these contracts effectively. For instance, we’ve recently secured a five year Framework Agreement with Scottish Water which runs until 2020. To service this contract and several others, we’ve invested £3.5 million in new equipment from several leading suppliers. We can now offer our customers the full product range for the gas, water, electric and civil engineering sectors.”
FLG Services, which offers a wide range of lifting and handling equipment from service centres nationwide, is also experiencing similar growth in Scotland. The company has opened new locations in Glasgow and Edinburgh and has made significant investment in new equipment to meet increased demand.
Jeff Hudson, director of FLG services said, “We are undergoing rapid expansion in Scotland to increase our national coverage; this is an exciting time for us at FLG, with added opportunity to recruit local skilled labour. We now have a full range of equipment for hire or sale readily available”.
