LOWMAC Recycling has taken delivery of the first compact, long-reach Terex-Fuchs MHL250E materials handler to be sold in this country.
The versatile wheeled machine is now working at Lowmac’s Ayr facilities, sorting material and loading trucks. The company has another larger Terex-Fuchs materials handler – an MHL320 – which is based at their Irvine headquarters where it is loading a Doppstadt DW 3060 Bio shredder. All these machines were sourced from Blue Group member companies Blue Fuchs and Blue Machinery Scotland.
Lowmac Recycling was founded in 1973, starting life trading in secondary metals. In 1981, the company moved into waste management with the introduction of skip and roll-on-off hire for household, commercial and industrial waste collection.
In 1994, Lowmac opened a new purpose-built waste treatment site in Irvine from where the company now provides a large range of environmental and recycling services. These include ferrous and non-ferrous metals recycling, ELV, WEEE collection and processing, green waste processing, wood and general waste recycling, reclamation of recycled aggregates and soils and the production of biofuel.
Lowmac also produces and supplies a wide range of building, civil engineering and landscaping recycled products, from haul-road materials to landfill cover, screened soils and sand, composting and soil improvement material. Lowmac Recycling has been a Blue Group customer for more than 17 years.
The new MHL250E is a wheeled, long-reach, hydraulic materials handler in the 15 tonnes class with compact dimensions designed and built specifically for the recycling market. The four point hydraulic outriggers version chosen offers complete stability with a 2.10 tonnes load at the 9m maximum reach. A fuel-miserly, low emissions engine generates 85kW, giving the MHL250E has power to spare for most recycling and reclamation applications.
Commenting on his company’s new plant acquisition, Managing Director Kenny Smith said, “This is proving to be a versatile machine for us and is performing very well on its sorting and loading tasks.
“It is nimble, quick and precise and the elevating cab is an excellent feature for safe operation, especially when loading high-sided trucks. As always, we have been extremely well served by both Blue Fuchs and Blue Machinery Scotland and once again, our long association and past experience with the excellent Terex-Fuchs brand made the purchasing decision all the easier.”
