Industry-led e-learning module aims to help drive sustainable plant operations

E-learning sustainability module on tablet

THE Supply Chain Sustainability School (SCSS), Construction Plant-hire Association (CPA) and Flannery Plant Hire have teamed up to develop a new e-learning initiative designed to improve fuel efficiency, reduce emissions, and support more sustainable plant operations.

An Introduction to Eco-Operations Module has been developed with input from contractors, major infrastructure clients, plant hire companies, and industry partners. The module has now achieved NOCN Assured approval, providing independent assurance of the programme.

Hosted on the Supply Chain Sustainability School’s free learning platform and the NOCN Hub, the programme aims to provide accessible, practical learning that can be applied directly on site.

Aligned with the Plant Sector Representative Organisation (PSRO) Eco-Operations National Training Delivery Framework, the module covers topics including climate change awareness, air quality, emissions reduction, fuel efficiency, machine idling reduction and practical actions that can be taken to minimise environmental impact and improve operational performance.

While operators are central to putting these principles into practice, the module is also relevant to site managers and supervisors, procurement teams, plant professionals and others who influence how plant is selected, planned, managed and operated on site.

Aaron Davis, safety & skills director at Flannery, said, “Operators play a vital role in reducing emissions and improving efficiency through the decisions they make every day. By delivering this training through a flexible e-learning format that can be accessed on a range of devices, we are making it easier for operators, site teams, procurement professionals and others involved in plant operations to develop the knowledge and behaviours needed to support more sustainable operations.”
