Blue Machinery Scotland and Murray Plant set for fresh chapter following MBO

Blue Scotland management team

BLUE Machinery Scotland and its wholly owned subsidiary, Murray Plant, are set to embark on a new chapter following the completion of a management buyout (MBO).

Founder Austin Carey, who has led the business for the past 28 years, will remain actively involved in both companies, and will continue to support the management team through his long-standing relationships with key customers and manufacturing partners.

The MBO team will be led by Dermot Donaghy, the newly appointed MD of Blue Machinery Scotland Ltd. He has worked his way through the business over the past decade, rising from area sales manager to sales director and now MD.

Ryan McLaren, who celebrates ten years with the business this year, becomes the new director of Murray Plant. The group revealed he has played a pivotal role in establishing Murray Plant as the top Rammer dealer globally and a leading player in the attachments markets across Scotland and north east England.

Roddy Wilson will continue in his role as finance director for both businesses. Roddy joined the business in 2019 as financial controller and has helped develop the commercial strategies that have helped both companies achieve their goals.

Austin Carey said, “I would like to sincerely thank our 30-strong team of staff based in Stirling, my early partners in Blue Group, formerly known as The Fourball, our loyal customers and all our global manufacturing partners for their trust and support over the past 28 years. I’m immensely proud of what we have already achieved together as a team.

“Without everyone’s loyalty and dedication, none of this would have been possible. The next chapter begins here!”
