AN event has been held at Powerscreen’s manufacturing centre of excellence in Dungannon, Northern Ireland, as the brand’s 60th anniversary celebrations continued.
Named ‘PowerFest’, employees, retirees, distributors, suppliers, customers and members of the local community came together for a programme of factory tours, school visits, live music, family activities, and charitable fundraising initiatives.
The celebrations recognised the people and communities whose contributions have helped shape the business and the wider crushing and screening industry over the past six decades. PowerFest turned the spotlight onto the people who have helped build Powerscreen since its founding as Ulster Plant Ltd in County Tyrone in 1966.
Founded on the concept of mobile screening, Powerscreen revealed that it ‘fundamentally changed’ how aggregates are processed by bringing the machine to the material rather than transporting material to a fixed processing plant.
Sean Loughran, business line director of Powerscreen, said, “Throughout this anniversary year, we have been reflecting on different aspects of the Powerscreen story. At CONEXPO, we focused on innovation and the future. At Hillhead, we celebrated our heritage and some of the key figures who helped shape the brand. PowerFest was about recognising the people, families and communities whose contribution is woven throughout our 60-year history.”
Early machines such as the MK1 established mobile screening as a practical and commercially viable solution, while later platforms including Chieftain and Warrior became ‘recognised benchmarks’ for ‘performance, productivity and versatility’ across the industry, Powerscreen stated.
The influence of the brand has also extended through its global distribution network. Many distributor businesses were founded or led by individuals whose careers began with Powerscreen.
Sean Loughran added, “While Powerscreen is known globally for pioneering mobile screening, our greatest contribution may well be the people who developed their skills here and went on to influence the wider industry. Many former employees established dealerships, engineering businesses and successful manufacturing companies around the world. Others spent their entire careers with Powerscreen, helping build the foundations of the business we know today.”
Since becoming part of Terex Corporation in 1999, Powerscreen has continued to invest in manufacturing capability, engineering expertise and workforce development.

They are also an opportunity to recognise the people who will shape the future.
