INVERURIE-based Miller Plant has invested £1.7 million in new Cat machinery and technology, including two Cat 730 articulated trucks.
The fourth generation family-owned business has purchased seven machines from Finning UK & Ireland. The haul also includes a Cat 966 XE medium wheel loader, a 340 excavator, a 330 excavator, a CS13 vibratory soil compactor, and a CS16 vibratory soil compactor.
Miller Plant delivers bulk earthworks, contract crushing, plant hire, haulage, and aggregate supply.
MD Ian Miller said, “All our new Cat machines will go on to support major civil and infrastructure projects across the north east and we are looking forward to seeing the efficiency and productivity benefits the integrated technology brings. We are particularly looking forward to using the advanced idle management system on the Cat 966 XE wheel loader as it will help to reduce fuel consumption and costs for our customers – an essential feature in today’s economic climate.
“We have invested in Cat 730s as they come with the added benefit of smart technology that is designed to maximise productivity, operator comfort and safety while working in demanding applications. With the addition of Cat Object Detect with Stability Assist, our trucks will be able to warn operators if the machine is nearing its tipping threshold and the Dynamic Roll Protection will actively reduce fuel and apply brakes when cornering too fast.”
Both the Cat 340 and Cat 330 hydraulic excavators have been equipped with Cat 2D Grade Assist technology, designed to reduce passes and improve consistency for operators of all experience levels, and Cat E Fence, which allows operators to set boundaries and reduce the risk of harm on site.
All the machines feature VisionLink to ensure Miller Plant has complete visibility of its assets and operations, with condition, location and service history monitoring as well as remote diagnostics included. VisionLink also reports on idle time and fuel burn rates to highlight cost saving opportunities and cut carbon emissions.
John Stuart, major account manager at Finning UK & Ireland, added, “Finning are very pleased to have been able to support Miller Plant Ltd. maximise its most recent investment in Cat machines with additional technology, ensuring that it can continue to deliver on its reputation for ensuring the highest performance and service for its customers across a range of applications.
“Miller Plant Ltd. is founded on a commitment to providing value to its customers, with efficiency and safety at its core, and the added technology means the new Cat machines and continued support and warranties from Finning will help them to deliver on this commitment for years to come.”
