ALLOA-based O’Kane Equipment Solutions has been appointed the official distributor for Astec’s crushing, screening and washing equipment across Scotland and northern England.

With multiple units already sold and successfully operating in the region, Astec machines are already proving their performance and durability on some of Scotland’s hardest rock, giving customers confidence that the equipment is built for the toughest applications.

The appointment forms part of Astec’s renewed dealer approach across Europe, strengthening local sales, technical support and aftersales service while providing customers with direct access to the manufacturer’s proven equipment and expertise.

O’Kane Equipment Solutions will supply the full Astec product portfolio available within its territory, including the Frontier range of tracked crushers and screeners together with the Ecoscrub range of modular washing plants. Customers will benefit from machine commissioning, operator training, genuine spare parts, technical support and aftersales service.

Developed using decades of Astec engineering expertise gained across the aggregates, quarrying and mining industries, the product range is designed to deliver high productivity, durability and reliability across applications including quarrying, recycling, sand and gravel, mining, and construction.

One of the latest additions to the portfolio is the Frontier SF20 mobile screening plant, which made a well-received appearance at ScotPlant 2026 on the Mellex stand. The machine attracted considerable attention throughout the exhibition thanks to its modern design, enhanced safety features and robust construction. Astec Europe has highlighted the SF20’s aggressive screening performance, featuring what it describes as the largest in-class screen box bearings.

Kieran O’Kane, MD of O’Kane Equipment Solutions, told Project Plant he was delighted with the response the machine received during ScotPlant.

“Its appearance at ScotPlant came completely out of the blue for us,” he explained. “We received a call from Mellex during the week as they needed a screen for a project starting the following week. They took advantage of the machine arriving and decided to exhibit it at ScotPlant.

“The feedback from both existing and new customers has been extremely encouraging. The comments have centred around the build quality, the strength of the machine, how well it’s engineered and the overall finish. The response has been very, very positive.”

Kieran believes one of the major strengths of the Astec range is its ability to provide solutions across the complete material processing chain, from crushing and screening through to washing applications.

“The breadth of the range gives us the ability to offer customers equipment that is properly matched to their operation. Whether they are looking for tracked crushing and screening equipment or modular washing solutions, we are able to provide a complete package backed by local support and genuine parts.”

To support the growing Astec customer base, O’Kane Equipment Solutions is investing in a new facility in Alloa incorporating dedicated workshops, genuine parts stock, refurbishment capabilities and expanded service operations. The company is also increasing its workforce to ensure customers receive the high standard of technical support and aftersales service expected throughout the lifetime of their equipment. Two experienced engineers have already joined an expanded service division.

“Scotland is one of the toughest operating environments for crushing and screening equipment,” Kieran added. “From hard igneous rock in quarries to demanding recycling and contract crushing applications, machines need to be robust, reliable and capable of delivering consistent performance day in, day out.

“That’s where Astec really stands out. The machines are exceptionally well built and incorporate proven technology that’s been developed and refined over decades.

“The Vanguard and Pioneer jaw crushers have established themselves worldwide for their productivity and reliability, while the Kodiak cone chamber is recognised as one of the leading cone crusher designs on the market, delivering excellent product shape, high throughput and dependable performance in demanding applications.

“The versatility of the portfolio is another major strength. Whether customers are involved in hard rock quarrying, sand and gravel production, recycling, contract crushing or mining applications, there’s a machine that’s properly matched to the job. Combined with the Ecoscrub washing range, we are able to offer complete material processing solutions rather than simply individual machines.

“Ultimately, customers want equipment that maximises uptime, is straightforward to maintain and delivers a strong return on investment. We believe Astec offers exactly that, which is why we are confident the range will be the best fit for operators across Scotland and northern England.”

Kieran believes the Astec products stand out due to build quality, longevity and uptime.

“Astec has spent decades refining its technology, and features like the Multi-Frequency screen box which no other brand offers. This, along with the Vanguard and Pioneer jaws and Kodiak cone chambers, puts Astec on another level to all other brands.”
