JCB to debut largest X Series machine to date

JCB tracked excavator

JCB has announced plans to debut the new 520X crawler excavator at Hillhead 2026.

The 50-tonne class model is the largest and most powerful X Series machine to date. It has been developed for heavy-duty applications and will be joined at Hillhead by its 40-tonne class stablemate, the new 420X crawler.

Building on the 370X, JCB revealed the machine has been designed to handle the most arduous applications, from mass excavation and aggregate extraction to demolition and crusher loading.

JCB will also showcase its expanding compaction equipment portfolio with the new VM138D single drum soil compactor, while the 9T Dual Drive site dumper will demonstrate the company’s latest advances in site dumper innovation. Using similar technology to JCB’s Dual Drive backhoe loader, the system allows operators to rotate the seat and controls so that they are always facing the desired direction of travel.

The line-up of new machines is completed with a preview of JCB’s 715 articulated dump truck. The compact two-axle ADT delivers a 12,750kg payload.

Alongside the static display and live demonstrations, the JCB aftersales team will be on hand to showcase the latest developments to the LiveLink system and the company’s new Parts Online e-commerce platform.
