SMART Construction, the digital arm of Komatsu, has announced plans to accelerate digital tool adoption by embedding high-density site data and as-built capture capabilities into its intelligent Machine Control (iMC) bulldozer range.
Despite advances in machine automation, many construction sites are said to still rely on intermittent site visits, manual measurements, and delayed reporting to understand job site progress.
To address this challenge, Komatsu Europe will include a Smart Construction Dashboard licence with every newly delivered iMC bulldozer, providing contractors with direct access to survey-grade jobsite information without requiring external surveying services.
Bart Vingerhoets, senior commercial manager at Komatsu Smart Construction, said, “Our digital twin technology is fundamentally changing the cost of operations. By tightening feedback cycles to a daily cadence, we enable customers to catch errors in real time. This drastically cuts rework and slashes expenditure on external services.
“In line with Komatsu’s goals, this next step isn’t just about reducing our carbon footprint; it’s about giving every customer the tools to boost productivity while keeping more of their budget in-house.
“This real-time visibility helps teams anticipate issues earlier, allocate resources more effectively, and prepare for future advancements, including autonomous machine capabilities.”
