THE Ainscough Crane Hire stand will be the place to find Liebherr’s LPO 100 portable battery solution and hybrid LTC 1050-3.1 E and MK 140 mobile construction tower cranes at ScotPlant 2026.

As the drive towards electrification and lowering emissions continues to gain greater importance, construction sites are under increasing pressure to adopt cleaner, quieter and more efficient power solutions. Many sites, however, continue to face limited or unavailable access to grid power.

Liebherr’s LPO offers a portable, emission-free power solution, providing electrical supply for machines, welfare units, and other outputs such as lighting and tools. The product delivers a gross energy content of 94 kWh, with a peak output of 110 kVA and a continuous output of 55 kVA. This enables the LPO to power tower cranes, fast-erecting cranes and small to medium-sized machines.

The system supports charging up to 32 A and provides multiple output connections comprising 16 A / 32 A / 63 A / 125 A. It also enables simultaneous charging and discharging, ensuring uninterrupted operation. The system can serve as a stand-alone power source or integrate with an existing grid connection or diesel generator (peak shaving). When the LPO is used as a supplement, it reduces the required grid connection size by absorbing load peaks from machinery.

The lithium-ion-based system delivers silent and emission-free power. Compared to diesel generators, the LPO requires ‘virtually no maintenance’, eliminating the need for fuel logistics, filter changes, and routine servicing. It is also engineered for easy transport and handling. It can be equipped with a trailer chassis and can be moved on-site via suspension points, using a crane or excavator, and lifted and moved from all sides, using a forklift truck.

Ainscough has investment heavily in Liebherr technology over the years, most recently establishing a fully standardised fleet ranging from two-axle to eight-axle cranes. As part of this collaboration, Ainscough will exhibit the LPO 100 alongside three mobile cranes: an LTC 1050-3.1, an MK 140 and an LMT 1230-5.1.

Liebherr-Great Britain’s MD, Richard Everist, said, “It was considered highly appropriate for Ainscough to exhibit the LPO 100 on its stand at ScotPlant, reflecting the company’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint. This is evidenced by its achievement of net zero and its continued investment in hybrid-electric technology, including the addition of two LTC 1050-3.1 E units.

“Presenting the LPO alongside Ainscough’s LTC underscores a partnership that aligns with shared priorities in sustainability and technological advancement.”
