ROTOTILT is hosting a number of activities this year to mark 40 years since the first tiltrotator was launched – including at ScotPlant 2026 in April.

The manufacturer said the innovation has ‘fundamentally transformed’ the industry.

Rototilt was launched in 1986 as the world’s first tiltrotator and has since developed from an idea in northern Sweden into an ‘indispensable’ tool for excavator operators worldwide. Having solved challenges related to mechanical stress in its early years, today’s tiltrotator enjoys improved operating characteristics, an oil-filled rotor housing, and smart solutions for working with hydraulic tools.

Rototilt is celebrating the anniversary with events around the world, and embarking on the next stage of its journey.

“We’re very proud to be celebrating this milestone,” said Anders Jonsson, CEO of Rototilt Group AB. “The tiltrotator story is filled with bold decisions and technical breakthroughs, all made in close collaboration with our users around the world.

“But above all, it’s people — employees, customers, and partners alike — that have made this journey possible. This is our opportunity to say thank you and continue looking forward.

“The curiosity and spirit of innovation that have characterized Rototilt since its inception feels just as strong today. We continue to drive technological developments in excavators, today with a sharp focus on deeper integration with the machine’s various control systems in an industry that’s working with ever-smarter machines and electrification.”

Rototilt will be celebrating the tiltrotator throughout the year, with a presence at trade shows including ScotPlant, Conexpo in Las Vegas, GaLaBau in Germany, CSPI in Japan, The Swedish Machine Fair, Hillhead, and Digtour (France).

The firm will also be hosting customer events at Rototilt’s subsidiaries around the world as well as a major celebration in Vindeln this fall, including an open house at the factory. There will also be the launch of an expanded history section on the company’s website and user stories ranging from the pioneers of the 1980s to today’s machine operators.
