Hitachi Construction Machinery UK become NPORS approved training provider

NPORS and Hitachi UK colleagues

HITACHI Construction Machinery UK has announced its accreditation as an NPORS approved training provider and accredited training centre.

The move has been hailed as marking a significant milestone in the firm’s commitment to safety, skills, and professional development across the industry.

Initially, the training programmes will focus on equipping HCMUK employees with the knowledge and skills required to operate safely and efficiently.

Looking ahead, HCMUK will expand its offering to external candidates, delivering a range of courses across material handling, plant operations, and safety disciplines. These will include training on counterbalance forklift trucks (B1, B2), high reach forklifts (D1, D2), telescopic handlers (J2, J3), pivot steer equipment, and mobile elevated work platforms (MEWPs – scissor lift and cherry picker). In addition, the business will offer courses covering 360 tracked and wheeled excavators, loading shovels, excavators as cranes, and loader securing, alongside specialist safety courses such as slinger signaller, plant marshal, quick hitch awareness, abrasive wheel handling, and suspended loads.

David Roberts, CEO of Hitachi Construction Machinery UK, said, “I am delighted to announce Hitachi Construction Machinery UK as an NPORS approved training provider and accredited training centre. Although our immediate focus will be to ensure we have a consistent approach to how we train and support our own employees using the NPORS framework, later in 2026 we will be extending the scope of our training offering as a corporate commercial training provider to other relevant stakeholders such as our customers and other local businesses.

“This collaboration with NPORS underscores our commitment to the highest standards of safety, compliance, and professional development within the construction industry. By delivering nationally recognised training, we are ensuring that our employees machinery operators, and other businesses have access to the skills and expertise required to meet today’s demanding project environments. This accreditation reflects our dedication to supporting customers with trusted solutions and reinforces our position as a leader in advancing industry standards.”

Scott Johnson, NPORS business system and project director, added, “We are delighted to welcome Hitachi Construction Machinery as an approved training partner. By joining the scheme, HCMUK now has its own NPORS-accredited instructor, ensuring that plant, machinery and site health and safety training and testing standards are consistently upheld across the business. We’re thrilled to have the business on board and look forward to building a strong and successful training partnership.”
