HYUNDAI Construction Equipment is celebrating 30 years of growth in Europe.
The manufacturer has launched a dozer, a materials handler, skid steer, and compact tracked loaders in 2025, building on its established wheel loader, mini, crawler and wheeled excavator ranges. The company has also introduced the next generation of crawler machines.
Hyundai entered the European construction machinery market in 1995, setting up an assembly line in Geel, Belgium. Production returned to South Korea in 2001, to maximise efficiency and boost profitability. Hyundai’s import and customisation centre (EUCUP) moved to Zwijndrecht in 2009 and was relocated again in 2019, to a new facility in Aertssen.
The company opened its European head office in Tessenderlo, near Brussels, in 2017. The site includes a training academy, parts warehousing, and a machine demonstration area.
Alongside the construction equipment business, Hyundai Material Handling is also based at the Tessenderlo site. The materials handling business offers a wide range of diesel, gas and electric industrial forklift trucks, with lift capacities of 1.5-30 tonnes. The division has introduced a range of new machines during 2025.
“Over the last 30 years Hyundai has become a leading player in the European construction equipment sector,” said Mr Maurizio Chiarotti, sales director Europe of Hyundai Construction Equipment Europe. “Our ambition is to be a top five player in the market and we are moving steadily toward that goal.
“With an expanded range of equipment, a strong network of dealer partners, dedicated support for national accounts, and a loyal customer community, we are building a solid foundation for success. Backed by our growing line-up, innovative and environmentally friendly solutions, and a relentless commitment to delivering the best aftermarket support, we are poised for continued growth across Europe.”
