THE UK’s first LRT 1130-2.1 – Liebherr’s largest rough terrain crane – has gone to Roadcraft (Crane & Plant Hire) Ltd.
The unit made its UK debut at Vertikal Days 2025 when it appeared on the Liebherr stand. The 130-tonne crane features a 60-metre main boom – the longest on any two-axle rough terrain crane – which can be extended with various jibs and boom extensions, including a seven-metre insert and a 10.8 to 19-metre double swingaway fly jib. These increase the hook height to 85 metres and the working radius to 66 metres.
The LRT 1130-2.1 is also equipped with technologies such as VarioBase, which allows each outrigger to be positioned independently, as well as increasing safety in confined working conditions and offering higher lifting capacity and larger working range.
Designed for ‘efficient’ global transport, the machine measures 3.4 metres in width and weighs 48 tonnes with its folding jib and hook block, removing the need for additional transporting equipment.
Mike Caine, Roadcraft’s financial director, said, “The team at Roadcraft are delighted to be the first UK rental company to bring the LRT1130-2.1 into its fleet. The crane is an extremely versatile and powerful machine with excellent lifting capacities.
“With its exceptional manoeuvrability, compact design and excellent stability, the machine – which was brought into our fleet with the needs of a specific customer in mind – will be a great asset to the business and into the future.”
Last year, the company, which is based is Merseyside, took delivery of its first new Liebherr mobile crane, the LTM 1060-3.1.
