WHYTE Cargo has strengthened its crane fleet with the addition of a new Liebherr LTM 1230-5.1.

The unit will support the company’s operations in Montrose and across the north east of Scotland.

The five-axle model features a 75-metre main boom and is equipped with an 11.5 to 20-metre fly jib that can be hydraulically offset by up to 40º. The boom can be further extended with three seven-metre boom inserts, providing a maximum hoist height of 111 metres and a lifting radius of 86 metres.

Thanks to its flexible boom combinations, Liebherr described the crane as ‘highly versatile’ and ideal for work requiring large hook heights, such as maintenance projects or wind turbine installations.

The LTM 1230-5.1 also boasts Liebherr’s VarioBase technology, which is designed to enhance lifting capacity and safety, especially in constricted spaces.

Whyte Cargo director Daniel Whyte said, “We are delighted to take delivery of this new LTM 1230-5.1, which we’ve bought specifically to help expand capabilities to our customers in Montrose and across the north east of Scotland.”

The LTM 1230-5.1 joins a fleet that includes two LTM 1150-5.3s, delivered last year, and an LTM 1250-5.1.

“Our long-term relationship, combined with the excellent level of support, meant the decision to purchase another crane from Liebherr was pretty straightforward,” Daniel added.
