KOMATSU Europe has revealed that it has equipped its latest compact wheel loader with multiple loader linkage options to increase versatility.
In a move to ‘perfect’ the machine before it entered mass production, Komatsu intensified its testing programme by extending the standard 100 hours of testing to 500 hours.
Developed and produced by Komatsu Germany GmbH – Construction in Hannover, the WA170M-11 is now available with two different loader linkages. In addition to the classic Z-kinematics, Komatsu is offering its ‘Tool Linkage’ kinematics, known from larger models, for the first time in this class.
Henrik von Werder, product manager at Komatsu Europe, explained, “Offering our Tool Linkage kinematics for the WA170M-11 means the machine can be used flexibly with existing attachments and across a wide variety of tasks – creating additional value for our customers.”
The enhanced testing programme was conducted in collaboration with multiple customers, including German organic waste processing facility Kompostwerk Hellefeld Höhe GmbH. Operators from the facility tested the wheel loader across various terrains and environments, providing live feedback to help refine the product.
Thorsten Schmidt, a wheel loader operator at Kompostwerk Hellefeld Höhe GmbH, said, “It’s been great to be involved in the testing of the WA170M-11. Working collaboratively with Komatsu means the machines are more than optimised. The machine is very stable, and the cabin is spacious with excellent all-round visibility, including a clear view. Operability is smooth and intuitive, making it comfortable and efficient to work with throughout the day.”
Since the market launch at bauma earlier this year, the WA170M-11 is said to have received ‘overwhelmingly positive’ customer feedback, with numerous orders already placed. With the final testing now concluded, Komatsu revealed it is looking forward to delivering the first machines to customers.
