DRAGON Equipment has officially launched its new CR550 Diesel Hybrid Crusher on the first day of PlantWorx 2025.

Weighing just under 2,800kg and measuring 1,300mm wide, Dragon said the CR550 Crusher offers ‘unrivalled’ transportability, allowing operators and hire shops to move it on a standard UK trailer and with a standard driving licence.

At the machine’s core is a diesel-hybrid powertrain. Combining a 19kW diesel engine with a 10kW e-machine, the hybrid system is said to provide instant boosts during peak crushing loads while autonomously recharging the battery during lighter work.

“The CR550 Hybrid Crusher is the natural progression of our mission to deliver maximum crushing power in a compact, transportable footprint,” said Jeff Haines, founder of Dragon Equipment. “PlantWorx is the perfect stage to showcase how hybrid technology can transform on-site crushing efficiency.”

Features include hydraulically adjustable jaws (from 3mm to 75mm) controlled at the machine or remotely; jaw stroke direction control for optimised crushing of different materials; Dragon Equipment’s ‘no-stress’ and ‘anti-stall’ technology; and remote control operation, enabling safe start/stop, tracking, and adjustment from an excavator cab.

Dragon added that a 33L diesel tank delivers over eight hours of continuous crushing, while maintenance is simplified through a hinged bonnet, central greasing point, and accessible fuel tank.
