ORGANISERS of PlantWorx 2025 have confirmed that Cat Simulators will feature at the event for the first time.
Cat Simulators will showcase a range of operator training systems, including a VR Paving Simulator, a Compact Track Loader (CTL) tabletop unit, and a new version of the Excavator Simulator, which will be on display for the first time at the event.
The new Excavator Simulator is currently in development, and although detailed materials are not yet available, visitors can experience it first-hand at the Newark Showground from September 23-25.
Alongside this, Cat Simulators will present two of its latest training systems, developed with input from Caterpillar subject-matter experts and built using authentic Cat controls.
The VR Paving Simulator is designed to equip operators with foundational asphalt paving and compaction skills. Using a VR headset, learners can carry out:
- Walkaround inspections
- Controls familiarisation
- Paving the highway (curved paths, manholes and material feed)
- Asphalt compaction using proven techniques
The simulator includes a headset, controllers, charger, paving software, and device management tools, while an optional laptop is also available. Described as ‘compact and portable’, it is suitable for training centres or companies working across multiple sites.
Also on show will be the SimLite Compact Track Loader (CTL) simulator — a tabletop model built for portability and remote setups. Training exercises include:
- Walkaround and machine manoeuvring
- Load and carry (with a bucket or pallet forks)
- Finish grading (with a bucket or box blade)
- Concrete pad removal using a jackhammer attachment
- Open training mode for instructor-led, tailored learning
Both systems support multiple languages, include SimU Campus for tracking user progress, and SimScholars curriculum. This online curriculum includes lessons, instructor and learner guides, quizzes, tests and videos for use in a classroom or remote delivery.
