EDINBURGH-based crane rental specialist Bernard Hunter has taken delivery of its first Liebherr LTM 1150-5.3.

The five-axle model comes equipped with a 66m telescopic boom, which can be topped by a 10.8 to 19m double swingaway fly jib. When a 7m insert is added between the boom nose and the jib, a hoist height of 92m and a radius of 72m can be achieved.

Liebherr explained that the 150-tonner has low axle loads of 12 tonnes, making it possible for the unit to carry nine tonnes of ballast on public roads.

Mark Rafferty, MD of Bernard Hunter, said, “We are delighted to take delivery of the LTM 1150-5.3. It is an extremely versatile mobile crane and a great addition to our fleet of Liebherr cranes.”

Shortly after delivery, the machine was sent to its first project, assisting in the construction of the world renowned Edinburgh Royal Military Tattoo grandstand.

“We’ve supported the Edinburgh Military Tattoo for many years, so it was very fitting that the new LTM 1150-5.3’s first job was on this high-profile project,” Mark added.

Bernard Hunter also ordered an LTM 1300-6.3 at bauma 2025. The company took delivery of its first Liebherr crane in 1995 and today operates a fleet of mobile cranes ranging from 40 to 700 tonnes, as well as mobile tower cranes, spider cranes, and truck-mounted cranes.
