CDE to host virtual tour of Fife Silica Sands wash plant

Burrowine Moor Quarry. CDE plant silica sand

CDE, alongside Fife Silica Sands, will host a virtual tour of its silica sand washing technologies later this month.

The two organisations have worked together for 15 years, with their latest venture involving the design and commissioning of a 210tph silica sand wash plant in Burrowine Moor Quarry near Alloa.

While the glass industry is the largest end-user of silica sand production, CDE said there is rising demand for the material across industries such as construction and technology.

The plant, which has been operating for a year, has delivered over 570,000 tonnes of silica sand to customers across the UK and Ireland so far.

The virtual tour, taking place at 10am on Wednesday March 26, will explore Fife Silica Sands’ solution, detailing how CDE has enabled the firm to produce ‘consistent, high-quality’ products for a range of applications including sports sands and construction aggregates and, in turn, supporting the glass industry.

CDE’s product life cycle master Chris McKeown and technical lead engineer Thomas Patterson will lead the event. For more information and to register, visit here: Fife Silica Sands Virtual Tour | CDE
