Sarens PSG expands fleet with Liebherr crane at new Aberdeen base

JOINT venture Sarens PSG has welcomed a new all-terrain Liebherr LTM 1250-5.1 to the company’s new head office in Aberdeen Energy Transition Zone.

The five-axle crane is equipped with a six-section 60-metre main boom that can be fitted with a variety of extensions including a multi-functional folding jib, a long lowering fixed jib or a rigid powerful jib, with a possible hoist height of 108 metres and a radius of 96 metres.

The unit will support Sarens PSG for many of its operations and has been supplied with Liebherr’s VarioBallast, enabling the 250-tonner to achieve maximum lifting capacities even with a large ballast radius. This feature is said to make it suited for use on constricted sites with limited space, as it can quickly adjust the ballast in seconds.

Steve Clark, MD of Sarens PSG and PSG Marine & Logistics, said, “This new LTM 1250-5.1 is part of an expansion plan which will see our two companies add a number of new Liebherr mobile cranes to the fleet in 2025. With an extensive range of innovative and reliable cranes, Liebherr is the perfect partner for us to grow our business.”

Sarens PSG was established in 2022 as a joint venture between port marshalling and logistics specialist PSG Marine & Logistics and crane rental and heavy lifting specialist Sarens. The joint venture operates from two locations including its new head office the Port Services House in Altens Industrial Estate, Aberdeen and PSG’s base in the Port of Cromarty Firth, Invergordon.
