FINNING UK & Ireland will deliver insights on low-carbon generator strategies and genset sizing at PowerEx Live.
Clint Noble, senior sales manager – large electric power systems at Finning, will present two sessions exploring the energy transition and effective methods for genset selection.
Taking place at the Park Plaza Hotel in London on December 12, PowerEx Live brings together professionals from across the power generation sectors.
Clint said, “While modern diesel generators are cleaner and more energy efficient than ever before, alternative technologies are evolving all the time. Depending on your industry sector and the application you need to generate power for, some of these are now emerging as viable solutions.
“I will be talking about developing technologies to watch like hydrogen fuel cells and gas blending, and solutions that are ready right now like hydrotreated vegetable oil, which is basically interchangeable with diesel but with lifecycle emissions 70% lower. As well as options for low-carbon power units, we will be looking at microgrids and energy as a service models where gensets form an essential part of overall systems that make green energy viable.
“In my second presentation, I will be outlining the most effective method for selecting gensets of the correct size, using the Finning SimpleSizer online tool. There is a natural tendency to err on the side of caution and this can lead to over-specification and unnecessary costs. Power requirements are also affected by load types and their characteristics and different equipment like pumps, heaters and variable speed drives. I will be setting out exactly how to get to the correct size of genset for any application in minutes using our online tool.”
