SPEEDY Hire has announced it has been awarded a Platinum Medal by EcoVadis, a provider of business sustainability ratings.
Platinum is the highest accolade awarded by EcoVadis and places Speedy Hire in the top 1% of companies it assesses and ranks. This award is an improvement on the Gold Medal the firm received previously.
The EcoVadis assessment evaluates 21 sustainability criteria across four core themes: Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement.
As part of its ‘Decade to Deliver’ ESG strategy, Speedy Hire has set targets to achieve net zero emissions by 2040, ten years ahead of the UK Government deadline. Carbon emissions emitted by the company in the UK and Ireland reduced by 21.4% in FY2024, achieved through the procurement and organic generation of renewable energy, investment into a greener property network, a more efficient electric and hybrid vehicle fleet, and the use of HVO fuel in larger vehicles.
Amelia Woodley, ESG director at Speedy Hire, said, “Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do at Speedy Hire and underpins our ambitious Velocity strategy. Our Decade to Deliver ESG programme focuses on delivering commercially sustainable growth, through providing solutions that enable our customers to achieve their net zero ambitions, whilst creating better environments for our people and communities.
“This prestigious EcoVadis Platinum Medal award is testament to our credentials as a sustainability leader and reflects the work our team and our partners are delivering to maintain our industry leading approach.”
