WICK-based crane and plant hire company Hugh Simpson Contractors has snapped up a new LTM 1150-5.3 Liebherr mobile crane.

The five-axle crane boasts a 66 metre telescopic boom, which can be extended by a 10.8 to 19 metre bi-fold swingaway extension that offsets hydraulically by up to 40 degrees. The unit has been supplied with additional lighting packages and a winch monitoring camera system for improved visibility.

With an axle load capacity of 16.5 tonnes, the LTM 1150-5.3 can transport up to 29 tonnes of ballast on public roads.

Hugh Simpson Contractors is a family-owned business, founded in 1964. The business focuses on providing lifting and haulage services tailored for the energy, construction, fishing, and harbours industries.

MD Hugh Simpson said, “We are delighted to take delivery of the new LTM 1150-5.3, a great addition to our fleet. The impressive ‘as travels’ duties on the crane were a major contributor to our decision process when purchasing this crane, as we need to be adaptive when working in the very far north of Scotland.”
