Ayrshire civils specialist adds Sunward diggers to fleet

AYRSHIRE civils and quarry operator Loudounhill Contracts has added Sunward diggers to its plant fleet.

The Newmilns-based business, which specialises in groundworks and hard landscaping for housebuilders, has acquired two Sunward SWE 155F medium excavators and a Sunward SWE 25F mini-excavator from local dealer Kattrak.

Established in 1986, Loudounhill has more than 35 years of experience in the construction industry, working on housebuilding and commercial construction projects of all sizes. The company opened its own quarry – Thirstone Quarry in Crawfordjohn, Biggar, in 2008 – to supply aggregates to customers across Ayrshire, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Lanarkshire.

Sunward’s SWE 155F 15.6-tonne excavators are described as a ‘versatile’ fit for large construction projects, while the 2.6-tonne SWE 25F mini can be transported on a small trailer with up to three buckets and a hydraulic breaker.

Loudounhill quarry manager Robert Craig said, “We select our fleet based on price and warranty and Sunward was the best deal around. Our operators are delighted with the machines. They find them easy to operate and are very happy with the build quality.”

Kattrak director Craig McLaughlin added, “A special thanks go to the MD Gavin Craig and Robert for firstly being a pleasure to deal with, and for investing in three Sunwards at once. Their operators on-site, Adam and Dougie, are very pleased with their new machines. We hope this is the start of a long relationship between Kattrak and Sunward machines in Loudounhill Contracts’ fleet.”
