Speedy Hire ESG director scoops prestigious award

SPEEDY Hire’s is celebrating its ESG director being honoured at the edie Awards at a ceremony in London.

Amelia Woodley scooped the Business Leader of the Year gong, with the awards celebrating and honouring remarkable individuals, projects, and collaborations that drive positive change in the business world.

Now in its 17th year, the programme champions courageous climate leadership. From net zero carbon initiatives to green innovations, and from impactful climate partnerships to social sustainability efforts, the awards recognise the heroes on the ground who are transforming business for the better.

Chosen by an expert panel, the award is recognition of Amelia as a sustainability advocate for over two decades. Her ‘visionary mindset, unwavering passion, and deep understanding’ that sustainability and profitability can co-exist harmoniously have empowered her to pioneer ‘transformative’ sustainability initiatives in her roles in rail, construction, infrastructure, as well as her current position at Speedy.

This has recently culminated in several high-profile milestones and awards being obtained for Speedy Hire, including being named a European climate leader by the Financial Times in 2023, and most recently being awarded an A- Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) accreditation.

On receiving the award, Amelia said, “I’m proud to receive this prestigious award.  In achieving this tremendous accolade, it’s a testament to the commitment from the teams I’ve worked with over the past two decades. Their passion and tireless work have led to many transformative sustainability initiatives being successfully implemented across varying industries. This includes Speedy Hire’s team, who are a driving force behind our target of reaching net-zero by 2040.”
