Hot Take: 3-Series models out to impress at ScotPlant

The TB350R

TAKEUCHI will be back in the company’s usual corner at ScotPlant with a stand packed full of new products.

One highlight will be the 10-tonne TB395W wheeled excavator, which is now available with four-wheel steer with crab-mode.

Takeuchi said the manufacturer’s rubber ducks have always been a popular choice across Scotland, with the early TB175W and TB295W models still seen in operation on sites north of the border. The latest 3-Series model moves on with more in-cab automotive styling, larger cab size, and easy service access.

The TB395W

In total, five machines of varying sizes from Takeuchi’s 3-Series will be on display at ScotPlant.

The TB325R, TB335R and TB350R all boast a short tail design for working in tight spaces. A high-definition monitor with greater functionality and auto styled interior with jog dial control are part of an improved cab design for comfortable all-day operating. All-round LED lighting, added auxiliaries, quick hitch factory fitted steel pipework, and check valves all come as standard.

ScotPlant visitors will also be treated to the first electric Takeuchi mini-excavator. The 100% battery-powered TB20e was launched following extensive two-year field testing. The model delivers eight hours of continuous working time at 65% load. Takeuchi explained this matches the typical work-rate of its equivalent diesel TB216. The TB20e has the same dig depth, dump height, travel and slew speed. It features electro-hydraulic controls, 24.7kW lithium-ion battery and three charging options: onboard, offboard and tethered. The product is available with a portable fast charger that securely rests on the blade when transporting.

The TB20e

For those who want to see the electric machine in action, this year’s Takeuchi Time Challenge will be using the TB20e. Once again, Takeuchi Time will be hosted by Dave Vickers (of Digging with Dave fame) with plenty of prizes up for grabs.
