LIEBHERR’S crane division is gearing up for another busy year in Scotland, including plans to display a crane on the Liebherr ScotPlant stand in April for the first time in over a decade.
Lyle Sibbald, sales manager for Scotland and north England at Liebherr mobile and crawler cranes, told Project Plant that 2023 was a ‘very busy year’ for Liebherr mobile cranes in Scotland with 25 units delivered to customers across the country, from the Shetland Isles right down to Newton Stewart in Dumfries and Galloway.
Notable deals included a fleet investment from Global Crane Services amounting to over 15 million euros, and the first new Liebherr LTM1300-6.3 delivered in Scotland to Forsyth of Denny. The 300-tonne six-axle LTM1300-6.3 is capable of carrying a complete 90m telescopic boom on public roads.
This year, Liebherr is anticipating customers buying cranes for a variety of projects, mostly focused on the renewable energy sectors.
The first LICCON3 crane control system machine in Scotland will be delivered to Ayr-based 3b Crane Hire in February. The brand new LTM1110-5.2 is a 110-tonne fixe-axle crane with new cab and the latest operating system.
Lyle Sibbald said, “The crane market in Scotland has been very buoyant over the past 12 months and we’re receiving a lot of positive feedback from our customers about the year ahead. With new products being launched throughout the year, we want to ensure our customers have the latest technologies to meet their lifting demands across the country.”
