MIDLOTHIAN Council has revealed that its JCB Pothole Pro is on track to repair 5,000 potholes in its first year of use.

The local authority had initially targeted using the machine to repair 2,000 potholes from May 2023 until May of this year. However, it is set to ‘easily smash the 5,000 mark’.

Bought by the council as part of its £780,000 investment to replace ‘outdated’ road machinery, it has been nicknamed The Tarminator –  with the local authority saying that it has been ‘annihilating’ potholes!

Wayne Clarke, transportation service manager at Midlothian Council, said, “Our target was to use the machine to permanently repair 2,000 potholes in its first year from May 2023 to May of this year but we’re easily on track to smash the 5,000 mark.”
