Training providers confirm merger to ‘seize new opportunities’

Charlie Cameron (MD of AquaTerra Training) with Carol Gray (director of Bon Accord Training)

AQUATERRA Training has announced a merger with Bon Accord Training, a fellow training provider based in Aberdeenshire.

Bon Accord Training has been a family-run business since it was founded in 1986, with director Carol Gray following in her father’s footsteps. This move has been described as marking a new chapter for both companies, who have a long-standing relationship in light of their ‘shared values, decades of experience and commitment to delivering the highest standards of industry training’ for clients across Scotland and beyond.

Building on AquaTerra Training’s investment in compliance experts Polaris Learning, securing a 50% share in the company in June 2023, this new partnership with Bon Accord Training marks another step. The collaboration aims to position all three companies for growth with shared resources.

Bon Accord Training is a provider of plant and machinery equipment courses, specialising in practical instruction and safety for a variety of material handling and plant machinery, including but not limited to forklift trucks. The business also offers management and supervisory skills training. Its client portfolio includes firms such as James Jones & Sons Ltd, WM Donald and RWG.

Carol Gray said, “Our collaboration with Charlie and the team at AquaTerra Training over the years has been rewarding for us, as we have similar values and beliefs when it comes to delivering innovative, practical training that delivers results for our clients. We believe this is a positive and exciting opportunity for Bon Accord Training, and our exceptional client base as our alliance with AquaTerra will allow us to seize new opportunities, accelerate growth and strengthen the variety, depth and capacity of our training to meet the growing demand for our services.”

Charlie Cameron, MD at AquaTerra Training, added, “Bon Accord Training are exceptional providers of plant and machinery training, with strong customer relationships and a collaborative mindset, they are our ideal match for a strategic partnership, and we are delighted to welcome them to AquaTerra Training. With only a handful of shared clients, we will be able to mutually benefit from new opportunities along with our partners Polaris Learning, as we collectively collate our resources and expertise to deliver exceptional learning experiences for our clients.”

AquaTerra Training and Bon Accord Training will maintain their existing names and brands.

Long-standing client Martin Hogarth of James Jones & Sons commented, “As a client of over 25 years, Bon Accord Training has proven a consistent and reliable source of unrivalled training and expertise. Their versatility has allowed our business to develop safely in relation to the variety of mobile plant machinery and equipment along with numerous attachments prevalent in our industry. Their new partnership with Aquaterra Training, offers an exciting new chapter for them and I wish them all the best.”
