Terex Coalville and Molson Group nurture young talent through HITZ programme

TEREX Coalville, a manufacturing site belonging to Terex, recently teamed up with Molson Group to inspire the participants of the HITZ programme that supports young people into meaningful employment.

The HITZ initiative is the Premiership Rugby’s education and employability programme that supports 14–24-year-olds who struggle in mainstream education environments and need assistance to gain qualifications and become more work-ready.

Part of the scheme involves work experience with local organisations over a period of four months, gaining essential skills and experience.

Kyle Barnes, a former participant of the Leicester Tiger HITZ programme is now employed as a stores operative at Terex Coalville, after completing his work experience at the site and impressing the management team with his work ethic and attitude.

On hearing of his achievements, Molson Group, distributor of Terex equipment, invited Kyle to visit its facility in Bristol to connect Kyle with other successful HITZ students who had gained employment at Molson Group through the Bristol Bears HITZ programme.

“The visit provided an opportunity to build a support network between HITZ programme participants at Terex Coalville and Molson Group,” explained Andrew Bullock, operations director, Terex Coalville. “Kyle found the experience truly enlightening, observing how other HITZ programme graduates had gained valuable knowledge and taken on responsibilities within their respective roles at Molson. It also educated Kyle to the importance of his own contributions as well as those of our distribution network in delivering for our customers.”

During his visit, Kyle shared his understanding of the equipment manufactured at Terex Coalville and his role in their production with the Molson team. The trip also included a visit to a local quarry to see machines in the working environment.

“The visit was helpful, as it showed me how the HITZ programme can provide other young people like me with opportunities,” Kyle said. “It’s not just a job; it’s about being part of a team, contributing to something bigger, and having an impact.”

Paul Glanville, corporate social responsibility lead at Molson Group, added, “Our collaboration with the HITZ programme is not just about transforming the lives of young individuals but also inspiring others to join this journey into meaningful employment. Seeing Kyle confidently articulate his responsibilities at Terex Coalville while interacting with our own participants of the HITZ programme is a perfect example of the opportunities that lie ahead when organisations come together to nurture young talent.”
