MECALAC is celebrating after winning the prestigious Red Dot Design Awards ‘Best of the Best’ category for its new REVOTRUCK dumper.
Judges praised the concept highly, commenting, “The REVOTRUCK is impressively multifunctional and shows quasi-transformational characteristics for safer material transport.”
While site dumpers offer an efficient method for transporting significant quantities of material, Mecalac said they also represent nearly one third of all transport-related accidents on construction sites.
This issue, the manufacturer added, primarily arises due to the obstructed visibility caused by their front loads while moving forward. To minimise this risk, Mecalac’s design team conducted an on-site analysis, identifying visibility, stability, and manoeuvrability as critical areas of concern. These insights led to the development of the REVOTRUCK.
Getting the best view without having to manually manoeuvre is now possible thanks to the dumper’s rotating cab. The REVOTRUCK also has four wide access points at each corner of the operator’s station to ensure safe access to the machine, regardless of cab position.
Central chassis oscillation of up to 20° is designed to ensure ‘permanent stability and traction’ in all conditions. The chassis is coupled with four equally-sized wheels with a switchable steering mode that opens up possibilities for working with ‘superior agility’ in tight spaces.
This latest accolade adds to a growing number of awards Mecalac has received for this product following the “Grand Prix matériel” DLR (France), Plantworx Innovation Award (UK) and “Premio Potencia” (Spain).
