FINNING has created a gas-powered energy package to support emergency backup power specialist ABC Power Systems in providing a lower cost solution for its customers.
The rise in fuel costs has reportedly led to a ‘sharp increase’ in companies looking for cheaper solutions to power their businesses. ABC has responded by using ‘highly efficient’ generators to provide power and heat through Power Purchase Agreements (PPA).
To ensure the right level of supply and maintain cost effectiveness, Finning explained that it worked with ABC to design and build a fully packaged, containerised solution using Cat CG132 generators.
Controlled by the Total Plant & Energy Management System (TPEM) the generators were said to be chosen for their ‘excellent performance and versatility’ – and the role that smart technology plays.
Providing up to 80,000 operating hours, the Cat CG132 generators boast an electrical output of up to 1000kWel and ‘increased’ electrical efficiency of up to 43.5%.
The development of a system to provide discounted power through a PPA is a first for both Finning and ABC.
Alan Carter, director of ABC Power Systems, explained, “Manufacturers – often in production critical industries – are facing phenomenal energy bills as prices have risen steeply across the last two years. Energy intensive industries need to have reliable power while maintaining operational efficiency, and as such the demand for a reliable solution at a lower price point has rocketed.
“PPAs allow companies to take matters into their own hands by securing energy deals at a discounted level that firms know they can rely on. With a strong reputation for providing expertise in back-up power solutions, it is a natural step for customers to reach out to ABC Power Systems for support.”
