Zero emission diggers take pride of place on Hitachi bauma stand

HITACHI Construction Machinery (Europe) is showcasing four new zero emission excavators at bauma 2022: the ZX23U-6EB, ZX55U-6EB, ZX85US-6EB and ZX135-7EB.

Capable of operating with lithium-ion batteries or cable, the models are described as quieter and requiring less maintenance than diesel-powered alternatives.

Two new compact Zaxis-7 excavators – the ZX85US-7 and ZX85USB-7 – are making their European debut at the event. Another debut is the new compact wheeled excavator. Hitachi said the ZX95W-7 offers ‘exceptional agility’ with the choice of two or four-wheel steering, and has a short turning radius and swing boom for confined spaces.

New models also appear in the special application category. Developed with KTEG, the ZX390TC-7 and ZX400MC-7 have been designed for heavy-duty applications and demolition sites. Additionally, the ZX130LCN-7 super long front and ZX350-7 with clamshell telescopic arm are the first Zaxis-7 models of their kind to be shown to European customers.

Completing the excavator line-up are several medium, wheeled and large models from the existing -7 range. The Zaxis machines are joined by three ZW-7 wheel loaders, including two new models – the ZW250-7 and ZW160-7.

Also on display in Munich is a refurbished UH04 model from 1976.

“We’re proud to participate at bauma 2022 during our 50th year in Europe,” said HCME president Takaharu Ikeda. “This is one of the many highlights of our anniversary activities, and we are enjoying celebrating our successes with our customers, dealers, and partners. We are also looking forward to the decades to come, with our new equipment, solutions and services, with which we hope to build our future.”
