Attachments specialist marks 40 years of innovation

ROTAR, the innovator of grabs, pulverisers and shears for the demolition, recycling and scrap metal industries, is marking its 40th anniversary at bauma.

The firm’s journey started with a screening drum for wheel loaders to clean paving stones. In the late 1970s, road contractor Hendrik Pleijzier constructed this tool to enable him to work more efficiently. Not much later, his invention marked the inception of Rotar.

Today, Rotar offers a range of attachments including a demolition/sorting grab, combi shears, concrete crusher, and scrap shears. The business also offers attachments for recycling, such as a demolition/sorting grab and orange peel grab. A third component is attachments for scrap and scrap metal processing, such as scrap shears and a rail cutter. Finally, Rotar provides attachment solutions for screening and sorting work for road construction, such as the segregator bucket and screening drum.

“We deliberately target the top end of the market,” said MD Louis Broekhuizen. “We are a premium brand with expert knowledge, and we constantly implement new techniques. We offer performance-enhancing attachments, which ensure fuel savings and lower CO2 emissions, through reduced drag, among other things. This allows crane operators to get the most out of their machine. We, always strive for durable, low-maintenance and high-availability tools.”

During bauma, Rotar has been presenting new innovations including an expansion in the RCC series (concrete cutters) of models 20 and 45 and the addition of a new demolition grab (RG-55) in the RG series. This attachment weighs 3,200 kilos and is said to be suitable for 45 to 55t cranes.

Rotar’s range of attachments are available in the UK from Worsley Plant.
