MANITOU Group has signed a partnership agreement with EcoVadis, a specialist in assessing CSR performance, to ‘accelerate’ the deployment of its new sustainable purchasing policy.

The manufacturer said that, as a result of the ‘expertise and tools’ offered by EcoVadis, Manitou will put in place a ‘reinforced assessment and monitoring’ of the CSR performance of its supplier base.

Maurizio Achilli, VP sourcing Manitou Group, explained, “With this high value-added partnership for our supply chain, we will optimise the CSR governance of our suppliers, while supporting them in improving their CSR performance. It will also enable us to strengthen risk management in purchasing.”

After an internal methodology for self-assessments verified during on-site audits, Manitou Group revealed it chose EcoVadis for its ability to cover all the geographical areas served by its suppliers.

Aude Brézac, CSR VP for Manitou Group, added, “EcoVadis’ assessment methods based on international standards and the completeness of the regularly updated CSR criteria have confirmed our choice. This collaboration will enable us to know our suppliers better and to anticipate future international regulations, whether they concern human rights, compliance, ethics or the environment.”

Manitou Group added that it will first conduct mapping to select priority suppliers targeted for these assessments, and will then send out its first questionnaires by the end of this year.

Pierre François Thaler, co-CEO of EcoVadis, commented, “We are proud to count Manitou Group among our new references. Every company, in every industry, has a role to play in reducing climate risk, both within its own operations and through its supply chain. Manitou Group made the right choice in using EcoVadis ratings to engage direct and indirect supplier categories in this effort.”
