Demolition business runs new mobile jaw crusher on HVO

DEMOLITION specialist Rye Group has invested in a Sandvik QJ241 mobile jaw crusher and is operating it with HVO rather than diesel.

Rye Group has transitioned its entire fleet to HVO as part of the company’s sustainability drive. The business has won two awards for its efforts in driving environmental initiatives forward: one from the National Federation of Demolition Contractors (NFDC) and the other from Hill Group’s Supply Chain Awards evening.

Sandvik started using HVO in 2021 and revealed it has been shifting over to supplying all its hydraulically driven units with HVO instead of diesel, allowing for a reduction in CO2 by up to 90% when operating.

The QJ241 was purchased from Retec Equipment. Rye required a machine that is compact and easy to transport, yet capable of handling all types of demolition material.

Simon Barlow, MD of Rye Group, said, “Through years of operation we have refined our ways of working and are focused on continual improvement and making a positive impact on all our stakeholders.”
