Doosan confirms double mini-excavator launch

DOOSAN has unveiled two new Stage V-compliant mini-excavators.

The 2.8-tonne DX27Z-7 and 3.9-tonne DX35Z-7 are said to provide a larger working range than the previous generation machines, together with higher lifting capacities and digging forces.

The new Doosan mini-excavator range features as standard the latest version 3.0 of the DoosanCONNECT system, which provides a telematics management system by collecting data from sensors on the machines. The DX27Z-7 and DX35Z-7 mini-excavators are the smallest machines in the Doosan range with this system.

Featuring the new shared global styling for the next generation Doosan mini-excavator range, the manufacturer added that the platform design and new upper structures in the DX27Z-7 and DX35Z-7 provide increased durability and robustness. The zero tail swing design of both machines is a benefit when working in confined spaces.

Both models are powered by the Doosan D17 Stage V-compliant diesel engine providing 18.4 kW (24.7 HP) of power at 2400 and 2200 RPM, respectively, in the DX27Z-7 and DX35Z-7.

Newly designed cast counterweights are said to ensure ‘excellent’ balance and stability when working, while long arm options are available for both models with 60 and 100kg additional counterweights, respectively.

Doosan explained that visibility and workability are improved by increasing the bucket protrusion distance beyond the tracks. Placing the boom swing cylinder on the left hand side of cab allows the operator to work right up against walls and other structures on the right hand side of the machines. The fuel tank and boom swing cylinder have been positioned at the base of the cab, with the MCV now on the right hand side, improving visibility for maintaining and working on the MCV.

The mini-diggers also incorporate a new dozer blade and dozer blade control lever. Using the dozer lever, operators can choose between low and high speed for the levelling blade hydraulics. Travel speed can also be selected. When hydraulic oil pressure rises due to going up a slope while driving in the high speed mode, the travel speed auto-shift valve automatically resets the travel speed to low.

The cab has a full glass entry door, while LED work lamps boost visibility, Additional LED lamps are available as an option. Features of the new cab include an ‘enhanced’ heating system, DAB audio, seven inch touchscreen, fabric seat with heating system and mechanical suspension, thumbwheel joystick, and foldable pedals.
